Child Protection Statement
The main objective of the club is to provide children and young people with appropriate safety and protection whilst in the care of Bolton Amateur Swimming Club.
To ensure that all children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial origin, religion and sexual identity are protected from abuse whether
PHYSICAL. EMOTIONAL NEGLECT SEXUAL
All teachers/coaches/helpers/volunteers of the club are governed by the A.S.A. and I.O.S. Code of Ethics and shall respond in accordance with these at all times.
All teachers/coaches/helpers/volunteers of the club are governed by the A.S.A. Child Protection in Swimming Procedures and Guidelines.
CLUB STATEMENT ON ABUSE: –
The club will not tolerate any form of bullying, whether physical, verbal or emotional
The club will not tolerate disrespect for another person.
The club will not tolerate any inappropriate language.
The club will not tolerate any sexually suggestive comments.
The club will not encourage behaviour deemed inappropriate for the circumstances.
SUSPICIONS/ALLEGATIONS
It is not the responsibility of anyone working within the club to take the decision whether a child has been abused or not. However, there is a responsibility to act on any concerns through contact with the appropriate authorities i.e Social Services/Police.
The club will appoint a CHILD WELFARE OFFICER in accordance with A.S.A Child Protection in Swimming Procedures and Guidelines in conjunction with the N.S.P.C.C.

Any suspicions or allegations of abuse should be reported to the Club Welfare Officer, who will take such steps as considered necessary to ensure the safety of the child or any other child/children that may be at risk.
All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately by the Child Protection Officer.
